About
House History
Built in 1868, Magnolia House as it is currently known was originally named Rutland.
Colonel James Henry Rumbough had the house built at the end of the Civil War for his wife, Carrie, and their eight children. He used the home to oversee his businesses and entertain guests, including famed writer O. Henry and President Andrew Johnson, whose son married one of the Rumbough daughters on the property.
For over 150 years the home has been cared for and loved by only 4 different owners, resulting in the immaculate condition seen today.
Meet the Owners: Sara & Brad
Sara and Brad Eavenson purchased the property in early 2021 and reopened its doors on September 1st, 2021 to visitors and locals alike. Through a family tragedy they remembered what was important in life to them; presence, nature, stillness, laughter, loved ones, creativity, and beauty. Thus thrusting them into a leap of faith, purchasing and restoring Magnolia House.
Their passion for family, love, and connection is what sets them apart from other vacation rentals. From the thought-out details to their southern hospitality, they go above and beyond for every guest.
